Company History

Dowland Contracting Ltd was started in the early 80’s in remote Tuktoyaktuk.  The first project was a water treatment plant and the company has continued to expand since then.  With 100 employees Dowland maintains its roots in Inuvik and has added several offices in regions where arctic expertise is required. 

Over the years, Dowland has expanded from maintenance projects to full construction services, including design/build, management, fixed price, as well as support for Oil & Gas exploration and infrastructure.


 

Guy Pemberton, President

In 1982 Guy Pemberton saw a need to provide construction services in the Beaufort Delta area, as well as support for Oil and Gas exploration and infrastructure for the Government of the Northwest Territories.  He founded Dowland Contracting and over the years the company has completed a wide range of projects in remote areas.

 

Patrick McGuinness, CFO/CEO

Prior to joining Dowland Contracting in 2003 Patrick was involved in all aspects of financial and general management within such industry sectors as Construction – Oil/Gas; Food Processing – Hospitality/Entertainment; Plastics – Printing/engineering; Transportation & Distribution and Financial Software.
